Why is it that most hotels will accommodate animals but not keep aside rooms for smokers. It is so unfair. Just because of an unfair total ban we can no longer go out to pubs or holiday in hotels in scotland. We should have rights to???

No, you do not have to be a member of the Considerate Hoteliers Association to enter the 2008 Awards although we would be delighted if you chose to join.

The awards event is open to hotels and guest houses in the United Kingdom and who fulfil the criteria requested when submitting an entry. Please see www.consideratehoteliers.com for more details

Do you have to be a member of the Considerate Hoteliers Association to apply for these awards?
I am a guest house in Torquay with a coveted 'Gold' award of green accreditation through the Green Tourism Business Awards, is this acceptable?
Our site is www.garwaylodgetorquay.com or www.garwaylodgetorquay.co.uk if you wish to view it.

Good point made by Seajay. Perhaps we could get an award winning and high profile chef like Cyrus Todiwala of Cafe Spice Namaste to make a start on this.

It probably is a question of giving the customers what they want but with a little bit of imagination a lamb tikka could be a Buttermere Lamb tikka or a Buttermere Swardale/Texel/Suffolk lamb tikka all with slightly different nuances of flavour.

It will come to pass.

Delighted to see that Mayor Boris has obviously read our blog. He was pictured yesterday planting no doubt the first of many trees he plans for tree deprived areas of London. I also noticed whilst travelling across London yesterday that the roads were less congested than usual. Is this another example of the Boris effect or the fact it was lunchtime?

Well done Julian - sounds a good time to me (but what do I know - I hate running). I'm sure other Considerate hoteliers would like to sponsor you, whether as a tree or simply as a Considerate runner - do remind us all nearer the time!

Having run the London Marathon for the first time in 4hr 28 minutes, in running attire, and having put my name down for next year, I may consider running as a tree, if someone will sponsor me, and people keep the dogs away!!!

Not sure about Hamish but was at friends on Sunday and the pet tortoise is called Kaboush. Now that's a sustainable animal that lives for hundreds of years, ugly but you cannot have everything.

Being Green does not have to be complicated, it should just be common sense and respect for other people and your surroundings.

We need to be ever conscious of our surroundings and try to ensure that we don't mess up the world too much for the next generation.

Voila

Alison, many thanks. Delighted to hear that although Hamish might not exactly be alive and well he is being treated with all due respect in his retirement. Dare I say it touches the cockles of your heart - no sarcasm intended.
